Opinion Post: Why Is Sunscreen the Most Important Step in Skincare?

 Thoughts?

Why is sunscreen so important?
Why is sunscreen a must in a morning routine? Sunscreen is essential in skincare because sunscreen can prevent harmful rays that may cause skin aging, skin cancer, suntan, sunburn and blotching on the skin. Sunscreen can decrease the chance of a person getting the deadliest skin cancer, melanoma by 50% and common skin cancers like squamous cell carcinoma by 40% if sunscreen with SFP over 15 is used daily. Without daily sunscreen people can age and develop wrinkles, fine lines and sagging at a young age. Many people don’t know that UV rays are everywhere. These harmful rays can be found in any form of light in buildings, outside, and on your phone! Personally, I think sunscreen is more important than any other step in skincare because without sunscreen, your skin can become damaged and no matter what else you put on your face, at the end of the day, your skin is still damaged. No body wants a wrinkly face or body or looking 50 at the young age of 30. Remember to wear your sunscreen!! (Even in winter) :)

How to find a sunscreen that fits your skin type:

    1. Find a sunscreen with SPF 30+ and has a broad spectrum.
    2. Choose an invisible sunscreen that leaves no white cast and is lightweight.
    3. For dry skin, avoid sunscreen sprays. Find sunscreens with moisturizing properties.
    4. For sensitive or oily skin, choose a fragrance-free, oil-free sunscreen.
